Hello all!!!
I have been asking for feedback about our Phase 2 scheme for a few weeks now, and it seems that things are starting to move forwards. My concern is that with the Voucher scheme ending in Surrey in July, we need to get these schemes moving as fast as we can so we can get to the stage where the community in each of the regions can claim their vouchers before they can no longer be accessed. Here is the update...
Phase 2 West (Aldershot Road - from the Curzon to just past the traffic lights).
This project has been canceled. There is some excellent news though - the Aldershot exchange is due to be upgraded between now and 2024 hence the cancelation of our scheme. According to the feedback I received from Openreach the upgrade will be happening in the next year or so. This means that anyone connected to the Aldershot exchange in the West of Normandy will have their internet capability upgraded to Gigabit speeds - and this includes Wyke! Phase 2 West is covered in the map below.
Next Steps - NONE - Phase 2 West upgrade happening naturally soon.
Phase 2 North (Pirbright Road).
I am delighted to say that at last, we have received the quote for this area. This comes out as £14,699 or £639 per premise in vouchers. The 11 people that were interested represented £22,500 worth of vouchers, so should this scheme be approved by the DCMS quickly enough, I am confident that this scheme should go ahead. A list of properties covered are as follows:
HENLEY PARK FARM COTTAGES PIRBRIGHT ROAD GUILDFORD GU3 2AE
1 HENLEY PARK FARM COTTAGES HENLEY PARK GUILDFORD GU3 2AE
2 HENLEY PARK FARM COTTAGES HENLEY PARK GUILDFORD GU3 2AE

SPRINGHILL PIRBRIGHT ROAD GUILDFORD GU3 2AG
SUMMER PLACE PIRBRIGHT ROAD GUILDFORD GU3 2AQ
ANNEXE HILLSIDE PIRBRIGHT ROAD GUILDFORD GU3 2AQ
I am particularly delighted we have been able to progress this scheme as we have because people living here suffer some of the worst internet speeds in the village.
Next Steps - Final contract being prepared.
Phase 2 South (Glaziers Lane).
The previous status on this was that due to the distribution of the properties included in the list provided by Openreach the cost per property was coming out really high meaning that this project was likely too expensive to be successful. After consulting the Parish Council we have revisited the list of properties intending to reduce the cost. We are waiting for the quote to come back from Openreach however we have reduced the number of properties down to 68x properties most of which are on or around Glaziers Lane. We hope to receive this soon.
Next Steps - Waiting for the preparation of the new quote which we hope will be better value for money than the previous quotes.
Phase 2 East (Bailes Lane, The old Anchor pub)
We are waiting for the final quote to come through on this scheme so that it can be submitted to the DCMS. I got a mail back today asking whether the farms listed on Bailes lane should be taken off to which I replied absolutely not!!!!
Next Steps - Final contract being prepared.
I hope that the updates are positive - Phase 1 and Phase 2 West definitely happening. Phase 1 will be dependent on a good number of residents and local businesses signing up to claim their vouchers. Phase 2 West will happen anyway.
For the rest of the schemes, we are dependent on the time to submit the proposals to the DCMS and then the amount of time it takes for the DCMS to approve.
